Since 2010, the Western Cape Government (WCG) has developed its strategies aimed at increasing safety by giving effect to the constitutional framework, and in particular, the Western Cape Community Safety Act, Act 3 of 2013. The strategy seeks a more coordinated approach amongst stakeholders in order to improve capacity and increase resilience to the growing number of safety and security challenges.
Key to building such resilience is the need for the Department to have consultative workshops with key stakeholders in the safety and security field, inter alia, to discuss:
The reasons for focusing on the functionality of Community Police Forums (CPFs) and how the Department determines CPFs’ functionality and the related funding model;
SAPS’s responsibilities on the Expanded Partnership Program (EPP);
Community Police Forum (CPF) and Neighborhood Watch (NHW) role clarification;
Safety plan prioritisation.
The above topics were discussed on Saturday 09 June 2018 at Mowbray Town Hall, Main Road, Mowbray on from 9:00 – 15:00
